The North Shore Apothecary and Doula offer holistic services for mothers from conception through birth and beyond.
"Holistic" means treatment of the whole person- mind, body, and soul. In pregnancy this means not just providing physical comfort, but emotional support as well. In our community support for mothers is desperately needed. With no birthing facility, limited birth education options, no midwife services, or support groups or services for expecting mothers, our community lacks the support mothers need. As a former birth photographer I have attended several births and seen the awesomeness that is a woman's journey into motherhood. I offer services for mothers from pre-conception into your child's first few months. With more services coming soon! |
Prenatal SupportEmotional Support:
Sometimes pregnancy can be stressful, especially when you deal with the challenges within our community. Is your partner away often? Do you not have other pregnant friends? Are you overwhelmed with the distance needed to travel for prenatal care? Have trauma from a previous birth? Emotional support can help bring you to a peaceful state which can help with delivery. Physical Support: Sometimes pregnancy can cause discomfort. We provide resources for community services like accupuncture, chiropractic care, and prenatal massage. Coming soon- prenatal yoga, birth hypnosis, and birth education. |
Birth SupportEmotional Support:
Phone/text support when labor begins is available during the early stages. Once in active labor I am your biggest cheerleader, providing encouragement and responding to your needs to create a positive birthing environment. Support for your partner is also provided! Physical Support: Assistance in hospital transportation- whether by driving or assisting in physical comfort during the drive. Once at your hospital or birth center physical support varies based on your needs. My "bag of tricks" can help get through contractions and assist in creating a calm and support environment. |
Postpartum SupportEmotional Support:
The first few weeks at home can be tough, especially when you have limited community resources. I am an ear to listen, a friend to talk to, and can provide resources for community and online support services for new moms. I am not a replacement for medical care for postpartum depression, but can help recognize early symptoms and provide support. Breastfeeding support, as well. Physical Support: Many plans are in the works, including a meal chain for those fire few weeks and a stroller club and baby & me workout classes to help you feel great physically postpartum, which can help with emotional help as well. |
